Montoya named A.I.I. Pitcher of the Week

Cottey College sophomore Alyssa Montoya had a busy week in the circle and was rewarded for her impressive performances with the Association of Independent Institutions' Pitcher of the Week honors.

Montoya struck out 12 batters and allowed just one run over 17 innings of work — which earned her wins over Avila University, Bacone College, and Crowley's Ridge College.

Montoya joins fellow sophomore Lacey Cruz as the only Cottey pitchers to earn the award this season (Cruz earned it twice).

Xavier University junior Mecolett Bradley earned A.I.I. Hitter of the Week.
