Cottey volleyball nets No. 2 seed in A.I.I. tourney
The Cottey College volleyball team went unbeaten in pool play at the three-team Association of Independent Institutions conference tournament Friday in Lincoln, Ill. — but the Comets will still be the No. 2 seed on Saturday and have to play No. 3 Crowley's Ridge for a chance to battle No. 1 Lincoln Christian in the championship match.
Cottey found itself in a 2-0 deficit against the hosting Red Lions to start pool play Friday, losing the first two games 25-18 and 25-20, before rallying back 28-26, 25-17, and 15-13 to take the match.
The Comets then took care of the Pioneers 25-23, 25-14, and 25-10.
They'll need a repeat performance against Crowley's Ridge, starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, in order to advance to the championship against Lincoln Christian at 3 p.m.
