David Wayne Carpenter
David Wayne Carpenter, 62, Deerfield, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo., following a brief unexpected illness. David was born Aug. 8, 1958, in Nevada, Mo., to David Walter and Wilma Lou (Wyckoff) Carpenter.
David was raised on the family farm in Deerfield and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1976. In addition to farming, he also worked at several area businesses including 10 plus years at Ennis Business Forms in Fort Scott, Kan. He was currently employed by Nevada R-5 School District. David was an avid outdoorsman. He loved farming, raising and selling pecans. David was always willing to help others in the community whenever there was a need, and he also enjoyed playing league softball.
Survivors include one sister, Kitty Shrum (Brad), Overland Park, Kan.; two nephews, Cody Shrum (Jen), Olathe, Kan., and Brian Shrum (Brooklyn), Overland Park, Kan.; many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 3, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with the Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Committal services will be held at a later date in Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, Mo. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested in his memory to Deerfield Cemetery Association in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
Those in attendance will be asked to maintain social distancing and are asked to wear face masks to protect themselves and others.
