A single-family home was damaged by a fire Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters from Compton Junction and Milo were called to help Nevada firefighters. As of press time, no further information was available. Nevada firefighters Tyler Janes and Austin Recker use a chainsaw to cut a ventilation hole in the roof of the house that caught fire in the 1400 block of North Cedar Street. Cutting holes in the roofs of buildings on fire allows heat and smoke to escape upward improving conditions for potential victims and firefighters working inside the building.
