Nevada City Council tackles lengthy agenda in Tuesday meeting
With council members Lyndon Eberhard and Carol Gallagher absent, the Nevada City Council considered a host of bids, appointments, and new business items in a lengthy agenda Tuesday evening.
In appointments to Boards and Commissions:
• The council considered the appointment of Clarisse Teepe-Fryrear to the Nevada Library Board. She will be replacing Cyndia Haggard unexpired term and if appointed her term will expire June 30, 2022. With a motion and a second, the council unanimously approved the appointment.
• The council considered the reappointment of Angela Hedges to the Nevada Library Board for a second term. If reappointed her term will expire June 30, 2024. With a motion and a second, the council unanimously approved the appointment.
• The council considered the reappointment of Denise Carrick-Hedges to the Nevada Library Board for a second term. If reappointed her term will expire June 30, 2024. With a motion and a second, the council unanimously approved the appointment.
In consideration of bids:
• Consideration of Bid for Wastewater Treatment Equipment including 2 Flygt series 3127, 7.5 hp return activated sludge (RAS) Pumps and spare (RAS) Pumps from the Independent Electric Machinery Co. Springfield, Mo., in the not to exceed amount of $28,000. With a motion and a second, the council unanimously approved the bid.
• Consideration of Bid for Wastewater Treatment Equipment including Ultraviolet light (UV) bulb replacements from Ray Lindsey Company, Belton, Mo., in the not to exceed amount of $11,000. With a motion and a second, the council unanimously approved the bid.
• Consideration of Bid for Water Treatment Plant CPA2-8 Hydranautics RO Membranes and vessel parts for replacements from Consolidated Water Solutions, Omaha NE in the not to exceed amount of $52,000. With a motion and a second, the council unanimously approved the bid.
• Consideration of Bid for 850 linear feet of curb and guttering along Johnson Drive from Coonrod Construction, Nevada, Mo., in the not to exceed amount of $16,000. With a motion and a second, the council unanimously approved the bid.
In old business:
• Second reading of Bill No. 2021-039 a special ordinance of the City of Nevada, Mo., authorizing a Transfer of Appropriation to the 2021 Budget to Provide Funds For an Employee Assistance Fringe Benefit. With a motion, a second, and a roll call vote, the council unanimously placed the bill on second reading.
• Second reading of Bill No. 2021-040 a special ordinance of the City Council approving an Investment Policy for the City of Nevada, Mo. With a motion, a second, and a roll call vote, the council unanimously placed the bill on second reading.
In new business:
• Consideration of Bill No. 2021-042 a special ordinance of the City of Nevada, Mo., approving a Community Assistance Program with the Missouri Department of Conservation for the Radio Springs Lake and the Izaac Walton Lake. With a motion, a second, and a roll call vote, the council unanimously placed the bill on first reading.
• Consideration of Bill No. 2021-043 a general ordinance of the City of Nevada, Mo., repealing section 19-132 of the Code of the City of Nevada, Mo. With a motion, a second, and a roll call vote, the council unanimously placed the bill on first reading.
• Consideration of Bill No. 2021-044 a general ordinance of the City of Nevada, Mo., amending section 19-146 of the Code of the City of Nevada, Mo. With a motion, a second, and a roll call vote, the council unanimously placed the bill on first reading.
• Consideration of Bill No. 2021-045 a general ordinance of the City of Nevada, Mo., amending section 19-187 and 189 of the Code of the City of Nevada, Mo. With a motion, a second, and a roll call vote, the council unanimously placed the bill on first reading.
• Consideration of Bill No. 2021-046 a special ordinance of the City Council of Nevada, Mo., authorizing the execution of Change Order No. 1 to the agreement with APAC Central Inc. With a motion, a second, and a roll call vote, the council unanimously placed the bill on first reading.
• Consideration of Bill No. 2021-047 a special ordinance of the City of Nevada, Mo., authorizing payment for the Nevada Tourism Fund for Marketing, advertising and promotion of the State of Missouri Bicentennial. With a motion, a second, and a roll call vote, the council unanimously placed the bill on first reading.
• Consideration of Resolution 1585- a resolution of the City of Nevada, Mo., authorizing consent for access to property for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency targeted Brownfields assessment. With a motion, a second, and a roll call vote, the council unanimously passed the resolution.
• Consideration of Resolution 1586– a resolution approving the selection of; and authorizing the City Manager to enter into negotiations with, Burns and McDonnel of Kansas City, Missouri for improvements at the Nevada Water Treatment Plant. With a motion, a second, and a roll call vote, the council unanimously passed the resolution.
• Consideration of Resolution 1587- a resolution of the City of Nevada, Mo., stating intent to seek funding through the American Rescue Plan Act and authorizing the City Manager to pursue activities in an attempt to secure funding. With a motion, a second, and a roll call vote, the council unanimously passed the resolution.
