The 2021 Vernon County Youth Fair culminated Saturday night with the livestock auction, where hundreds of people packed the Fairgrounds Pavilion to bid on — or at least watch the selling of — all the steers, swine, rabbits, sheep, goats, and fowl that exhibitors from local 4-H clubs presented for judging throughout the week.

The event ran throughout the evening, with multiple auctioneers taking turns on the microphone to sell off 108 market barrows, 70 by-the-head or pen-of-three market meat rabbits, 51 market wether goats, 26 beef steers, 24 market wether lambs, 23 market turkeys, 19 pen-of-three market broilers, and13 dairy steers.

Prices, which included some premium sales, ranged from $10 to well more than $1,000.
