Mt. Vernon volleyball sweeps Lady Tigers in opener

The Nevada High School volleyball team went down in straight sets (25-17, 25-18, 26-24) to open its season Thursday night at Mt. Vernon.
Setter Jade Feller contributed 30 assists, while fellow senior and libero Grace Barnes racked up 17 digs. Sophomore Delaney Hope led the way at the net with 12 kills and seven blocks.
The NHS junior varsity squad also lost to Mt. Vernon, 25-18 and 25-17.
The C-team fell 25-21.
The Lady Tigers (0-1) will next compete in a triangular at Fort Scott on Tuesday.
