Sheldon volleyball splits with New Covenant at Jasper Invite
The Sheldon High School volleyball team won a set during pool play at the Jasper Invitational on Saturday, but were bounced out of the bracket by the top seed.
The Lady Panthers — who were without senior setter Madison Garren, who was competing at a cross country meet — battled with Jasper's JV to open pool play but ultimately lost both sets, 25-22 and 25-18.
They then dropped the first set against New Covenant 10-25, before rebounding with a 25-22 victory in the second set.
Sheldon lost to Golden City 25-17, 25-22, before opening bracket play with a 25-15, 25-6 loss to Jasper.
"We showed the bigger schools that underestimating us is not a good idea," SHS head coach Emily Godsey stated. "This group of athletes is very talented and I see very good things for them this year and in the future if they continue to work hard to achieve their goals."
