Nevada JV hammers Hollister
The Nevada High School junior varsity football team went to work on Labor Day, shutting out Hollister 33-0 at Logan Field.
Junior Tayvin Moore punched in the earliest, logging a 40-yard touchdown run in the first quarter (freshman Elijah Bootle booted the extra point).
Following a fumble recovery by sophomore Layne Webb, freshman quarterback Gabe Smith connected with Moore on a 25-yard TD pass (Bootle with the PAT).
In the second quarter, Smith found freshman tight end Memphis Bronson for a 5-yard score (Bootle with the PAT).
The Tigers (2-0) extended their three-touchdown lead at halftime with a goal-line TD run by sophomore running back Tucker Duncan (PAT blocked) in the third quarter — before sealing it with a 3-yard TD run by freshman Jack Cheaney in the fourth (PAT missed).
“We are really proud of our young men for the way that we played hard from start to finish,” stated head coach Jerrod Alexander, whose squad will next host Cassville (1-1) on Monday. “We continue to see improvement from week to week and will continue to work on areas that we can still improve on to keep getting better.”
