Nevada Area Habitat for Humanity brings back potato luncheon

Saturday, August 28, 2021

The Nevada Area Habitat for Humanity will be bringing back its monthly potato luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 8. Due to high COVID-19 numbers in Vernon County, the organization will be holding the luncheon as a drive-through event. Being held at the First Christian Church fellowship hall building, attendees are asked to enter the church parking lot from Cedar Street, pick up their lunch, and exit onto Arch Street.

All lunches need to be reserved. This may be done by calling the new Habitat cell phone number at (417) 321-4103; mailing your order form to the address found on it; or meeting at Wood's Grocery Store between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 1, or from 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 4. All orders need to be received by 5 p.m., Sept. 4.

When reserving your meal, indicate your dessert choice from the following: Chocolate pie; lemon meringue pie; coconut pie; pecan pie; apple pie; cherry or Derby pie; carrot cake; or chocolate cake.

The Nevada Area Habitat for Humanity is now finishing its 16th home. It has rehabbed several houses, worked to build handicapped accessible entrances for those needing assistance, and is almost ready to turn the keys over to its newest home buyer. Recently, four home buyers have paid off their mortgages and are now home owners.
