NHS volleyball nearly beats Bolivar

The Nevada High School volleyball team travelled to Fort Scott on Tuesday for a triangular with Anderson County and the hosting Lady Tigers.

After losing to Anderson County in straight sets 26-24, 25-21, the crimson and gray took Fort Scott to three sets but ultimately fell 20-25, 25-21, 19-25.

The NHS JV also lost to Anderson County (20-25, 25-22, 18-20) and Fort Scott (25-18, 25-21), but the freshman squad won both its matches — 25-17, 25-11 over Anderson County and 25-11, 25-18 over Fort Scott.

NEVADA 2, BOLIVAR 3

The Lady Tigers looked like they found their groove after taking a 2-1 set lead at Bolivar on Thursday — but the Liberators were able to come back for a five-set victory (11-25, 25-21, 25-11, 18-25, 10-15).

Emma Leisure and Trinity Gayman led NHS at the net with eight kills apiece. Senior setter Jade Feller collected 26 assists. Delaney Hope had four blocks, and Taylor Thompson added four aces. Reese Hedges contributed 10 digs, while Leisure had seven.

Nevada will look to pick up its first win Monday at Neosho.

The JV team, meanwhile, split 25-17, 21-25 — as did the C team, 17-25, 25-15.

CASSVILLE MATCH POSTPONED

The volleyball match between Nevada and Cassville that was scheduled for Friday has been postponed — with a reschedule date to be decided soon.
