Nevada JV football foils Cassville, 28-24
Like its fellow varsity squad, the Nevada High School junior varsity football team remained unbeaten with a win over Cassville in week three.
The Tigers hosted the Wildcats at Logan Field on Monday, where a resilient rushing attack propelled Nevada (3-0) to a 28-24 victory.
Freshman running back Jack Cheaney got the scoring started with a 45-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, it was sophomore Dezmon Robinson’s turn, when he found the end zone from 48 yards out (Nevada’s PAT was missed).
The second half belonged to another sophomore, Tucker Duncan, who ran in a 6-yard touchdown and converted the two-point conversion in the third quarter before scoring from 25 yards out in the fourth (two-point try was incomplete).
“Once again, we are pleased with and proud of our young men for their effort and the way that we continue to battle and play hard for four quarters,” stated head coach Jarrod Alexander, whose team will travel to 3-0 Lamar next week. “There are still several areas that we can clean up and improve on and we look forward to the opportunities at practice to get better this week.”
