Volleyball roundup: NHS wins one in CJ tourney
The Nevada High School volleyball team got an advanced look at their home opponent for Tuesday at the Dr. Jeffrey Knutzen Carl Junction Classic on Saturday.
The Lady Tigers went 1-3 at the tournament, with their lone win (25-9, 27-25) coming against McDonald County — which NHS will host tonight inside Wynn Gymnasium.
Nevada lost to Carthage 16-25, 16-25; to Central 6-25, 29-25; and to Pittsburg 25-19, 25-27, 17-25.
NMS TAKES ON ELDO AND LAMAR
The Nevada Middle School volleyball squads earned a sweep against El Dorado Springs last week, with the seventh-grade A team winning 16-25, 25-16, 15-6, and the eighth-grade A team coming out on top 25-18, 25-19.
The 8A unit continued its winning ways against Lamar the next day, earning a 25-22, 26-28, 25-22 victory.
The 7A team lost 14-25, 12-25; the 7B team lost 11-25, 9-25; and the 8B team lost 25-28, 10-25.
NEVC WINS FOUR IN A ROW
The Northeast Vernon County High School volleyball team extended its win streak to four matches, besting Ballard last week in four sets — 25-11, 25-21, 21-25, 26-24 — before sweeping Chilhowee on Monday 25-13, 25-18, 25-20. The NEVC junior varsity also beat Chilhowee 33-31, 25-12.
