NHS freshmen spikers score two wins in Cassville

The Nevada High School freshmen volleyball team travelled to Cassville on Saturday for a tournament — and came home with a pair of wins.

The Lady Tigers opened pool play with a 25-13, 25-21, 24-26 win over Neosho, before falling to Republic 12-25, 13-25, 10-25.

In bracket play, Nevada cruised past host Cassville 25-12, 25-11 — only to lose to eventual tourney champion Lamar 13-25, 16-25.

The Nevada Middle School eighth-grade A team was the lone winner in volleyball against McDonald County last week.

While the 8A team came out on top 20-25, 25-19, 15-10, the 8B squad lost 20-25, the 7A team lost 25-13, 19-25, 8-15, and 7B went down 16-25.
