Local track and field teams compete in postseason meets
The Sheldon High School track and field team as well as the Nevada High School track and field teams competed in postseason meets this past week. Starting off with the Sheldon Panthers, they had Maddy Garren, Kim Colbert, Mariam Lamb, and Donna Byram compete in Class 1 Sectional 4. Garren competed in the 400 meter dash and had a time of 1.06.44 minutes for a sixth place finish. Colbert competed in the 100 meter hurdles for a time of 17.31seconds for a second place finish, as well as competing in the 300 meter herbal event with a time of 50.49 seconds for another second place finish. Then Garren, Colbert, Lamb, and Byram competed in the 4x100 Relay with a time of 54.25 seconds, as well as the 4x200 relay with a time of 1.54.97 minutes. They placed second in both events. The boys 4x200 relay team had a time of 1.4329 minutes and placed sixth. Nevada’s track and field team had great showing at Districts held in Grandview in Grandview, Mo. Both boys and girls teams finished in fourth out of nine different schools in Districts.
