Delpha Gail Simmons
Delpha Gail Simmons, 82, passed away on Tues-day, August 9, 2022 at her home in Schell City, MO following a lengthy ill-ness. Delpha was born May 16, 1940 in rural Schell City to Arthur Al-len and Elise Mabel (Kurt) Hillier. She was united in marriage to William Joseph Simmons on December 31, 1957 in Nevada, MO and he sur-vives of the home. Delpha was raised in Schell City and attended Schell City Schools. Delpha’s husband, Bill, served in the United States Navy and as a re-sult the couple lived in various places including Michigan, Florida, Cali-fornia, and Hawaii. In March of 1973, they came back to Schell City fol-lowing Bill’s retirement from the Navy. Delpha was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Schell City and later attended the United Methodist Church in Nevada. She enjoyed researching her family’s genealogy, crafts, bak-ing, was a past member, treasurer, and volunteer of the Schell City United Methodist Church. Del-pha especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her hus-band William Sr. “Bill” of the home, she is survived by two sons, William Simmons, Jr. and his wife Toni, Schell City, and Ronald Simmons, Schell City; a daughter, Kris-tina Simmons, N. Kansas City, MO; one grand-child, Matthew Thornhill; great-grandchild, Erin Thornhill; and one broth- er, Francis “Sonny” Irwin and his wife Karen, Yelm, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her half-brothers, and half-sisters, Leo Hillier, Glenn Hillier, Ralph Hillier, Ma-rie Mosher, Anna Bailey, and an infant brother.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 15, 2022 at Green Lawn Cemetery in Schell City, MO with Rev. Michelle Whitlock officiating.
