Nevada Lady Tigers defeat East Newton Lady Patriots, 59-28
The Nevada Lady Varsity Tigers took on the East Newton Lady Patriots Monday evening, Jan. 9. The Lady Tigers inched their way by scoring one extra point over the Lady Patriots, with the score 9-8 at the end of the first quarter. The following Lady Tigers scored: Clara Swearingen scored 8, with Abbey Heathman scoring a free throw.
Going into the second quarter, the Lady Tigers showed that they meant business by putting 21 points on the board. The Lady Patriots were only able to score six, with the score 30-14 going into halftime. The following Lady Tigers scored in the second quarter: Clara Swearingen scored 10 points, and Madyson Majors scored 11 points.
The Lady Tigers remained strong in the third quarter by putting up 19 points while the Lady Patriots kept on struggling, scoring only 9 points. The following Lady Tigers scored in the third quarter: Clara Swearingen scored 8 points, Madyson Majors scored 6 points, Katie Johnson scored 4 points, and Abbey Heathman scored a free throw.
The Lady Tigers finished off in the fourth quarter by scoring an additional 10 more points while the Lady Patriots struggled to score another five points. The Lady Tigers took the win, 59-28. The following Lady Tigers scored in the fourth quarter: Clara Swearingen scored 4 points, Madyson Majors scored 4 points, and Hallee Richmond scored 2 points.
The Nevada JV Lady Tigers competed in a two quarter game against East Newton JV Lady Patriots game Monday night, also. The Lady Tigers won that game, 30-5.
