John Edmond Smith
John Edmond Smith, age 78, of Bosworth, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, at Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield, Mo.
He was born to Leland and Dorothy (May) Smith on June 17, 1944, at the family home in Walker, Mo. On March 16, 1984, John married Janet Ellis in Clinton, Mo.
John graduated from Nevada High School in 1962 and made a lifetime career as a printer. He was a hard working honest man who also worked part time at AGRIServices of Brunswick, where he made many friends and enjoyed the family atmosphere.
John was most at home when he was outdoors, whether trout fishing, hunting, muzzle loading, or primitive camping in the families’ eighteen foot teepee, he loved it. He liked working in the garden and everyone knew he had the “best tomatoes” around! John was a member of the National Muzzle Loader Rifle Association and won several State and National Competitions.
He was a faithful member of the Bosworth Christian Church where he had served as a Deacon.
John is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janet of Bosworth, Mo.; children, Jeane Wymore of Richmond, Mo., Craig Ellis and wife Kim, of Lawson, Mo., Suzanne Gano and husband Nathan, of Bloomington, Ind., Jennifer Kirk and husband Steve, of Tuttle, Okla., and Jonna Julien and husband Jeff, of Greenfield, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memories of John’s Life were shared at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 7, at Bosworth Christian Church Fellowship Hall, with lunch and visiting to follow.
