The NEVC Knights picked up their third win of the 2022/23 season Tuesday afternoon, after a hard fought battle against the Ballard Bulldogs Tuesday evening at NEVC High School. Even though a win is a win, Head Coach Brice Leonard said they need to work on a few things.

“I’ll be honest - we could have played a lot better,” stated Leonard. “I'm happy with the win so we can get back on track for the end of the season here, but there is a lot we can take away from this game. We can play a lot better for sure. We're heading to Miami High School Friday night, and they're a pretty good team. We can pick some stuff over the next couple days and take that into Miami Friday night to hopefully get another win.”

The first quarter of play started out very odd to basketball standards in the area, as NEVC only racked up five points in the first eight minutes. They still were in contention to win over Ballard’s four points. The second half is where things started to get more competitive, as NEVC still had a great chance to improve their 2-14 season with the score being 13-10 by halftime in the Knights favor.

The second half saw the Knights get up to their biggest lead yet as they lead 25-12 in the middle of the third, before ending the third quarter with a score of 27-18. In the fourth and final quarter of play, the Knights were able to outscore the Bulldogs 10-9 and clinched their third victory of the year with a final score of 37-27.

The Knights will travel to Miami High School Friday evening to take on the Miami Eagles, looking for another chance to pick up another win to improve their losing season.
