On Saturday evening, July 29, the Vernon County Cancer Relief (VCCR) hosted its inaugural Tractor and Truck Pull at the Vernon County Youth Fair (VCYF) fairgrounds. The event was met with enthusiastic support from the local community, aiming to raise funds for cancer patients residing in Vernon County.

The evening commenced with a moving rendition of the National Anthem, performed by Kylie Ast of Nevada, setting the patriotic tone for the event. The crowd was then treated to a thrilling display of power and sound as the tractors and trucks took to the field for their pulls. Spectators were delighted by the impressive performances and the deafening roars that echoed throughout the fairgrounds.

The Missouri State Tractor Pullers Association (MSTPA) had the honor of emceeing the event, ensuring its smooth execution. To keep attendees energized and satisfied, the VCCR operated the concession stand, offering a variety of refreshments, while a few vendors showcased and sold their wares.

The primary objective of this event was to raise funds for cancer patients residing in Vernon County. The VCCR endeavors to assist these individuals in managing their financial burdens resulting from battling cancer. Among the various forms of support, the organization generously provides gas cards to patients, easing the costs of their frequent trips to doctors, medical tests, and treatments. Additionally, the VCCR extends its helping hand to cover electric bills, groceries, and other essential living expenses for these patients.

Entrance fees collected at the gate for the evening's event were entirely dedicated to supporting the VCCR's cause. Moreover, during the pulls, the organization also sold 50/50 raffle tickets, where the lucky winner selflessly donated their winnings back to the VCCR, contributing an impressive sum of over $600.
