The weight of the wet snow that fell across the area Monday night and into Tuesday morning, Feb. 26, 2013, caused the collapse of this awning on the east side of the Wilkinson Corporate offices building at the corner of Washington St. and Austin Boulevard in Nevada, Mo. Employee Mark Mendenhall said it came down during the night and if it hadn't hit a concrete post it would have damaged the air conditioning units. "It's just a mess," he said.

A city of Nevada worker uses a backhoe to pile snow from the north side of the Square onto a pile more than 10 feet high and 40 feet long. Similar piles were created on all four sides of the Square. The snow will be removed with dump trucks and piled somewhere else later.

This fallen cable TV line at the intersecton of Minnesota St. and Osage Boulevard was brought down by the weight of snow clinging to it. There were many such lines down in the city on Tuesday morning, Feb. 26, 2013. They were still being reported into the afternoon hours.

The weight of the wet snowfall that moved through the area beginning Monday afternoon and continuing until Tuesday morning Feb. 26, 2013 brought this big limb down and damaged a vehicle at 300 S. Clay St. in Nevada, Mo. Smaller downed limbs were scattered across the city.
