2016 4-H and Drill Team Alumni Reunion

At the beginning of the Vernon County 4-H Alumni Reunion, former members recite the 4-H pledge, "I pledge my head to clearer thinking, my heart to greater loyalty, my hands to larger service and my health to better living for my club, my community, my country and my world."

This year, outstanding 4-H leaders from 1990-94 were recognized. They include: 1990 - Janie Thomas, Helen Bausch, Jenise Burch; 1991 - Susie Caldwell, Shelley Pitts, Blanche Balk; 1992 - Donna Sheets, Chuck Humble, Debbie Metcalf; 1993 - Steve Brier, Dale Pitts, Pat Harold; 1994 - Mike Sheets, Ardis Legleiter, Alice Boehs. The fifth annual Vernon County 4-H Alumni Reunion brought a standing-room only crowd to the Home Ec building at the Vernon County Fair Grounds.

From left: Dwain Steward, Donna Steward, Nancy McGlochien, and Ron McGlochien. The Stewards led the drill team alongside founder Darrel Castor until he moved in 1973. In 1973, the McGlochiens joined the Stewards and helped lead the drill team until it disbanded in 1992.
