Tiger runners fifth at Carl Junction meet
Nevada CARL JUNCTION, Mo. -- The Nevada Tiger varsity cross country team finished fifth in the nine-team Carl Junction Invitational on Thursday. Nevada, led by senior medalist Jon Emery's sixth-place, scored 110 points. Emery posted a time of 17:21 over the 3.1-mile course at Briarbrook Golf and Country Club. Sophomore Jim Fay also medaled with a 17th-place finish in 18:30. Other Tiger varsity competitors were Mason Benn, 24th in 18:59; Darren Chapman, 28th in 19:33; and Curtiss Davis, 35th in 19:55. Webb City claimed the team championship with 46 points. Freshman Mark Reed of Nevada captured the junior varsity division individual crown with a time of 19:23, leading the Tigers to the team title. Also medaling for Nevada were Taylor Hall, Nick Conway, Justin Hou and Eric Good. Hall was seventh at 20:38 and Conway ninth at 20:42. Justin Hou placed 13th (20:54; Eric Good, 14th (21:04) and Ryan Watts, 31st (25:36). Nevada competes in a meet at Neosho on Thursday, then hosts the Class 3, District 7 meet at Marmaduke Park on November 1.
