100 Years Ago -- November 21, 1903

SOCIETY AND CLUB NEWS -- The No Name Euchre Club was entertained this afternoon by Miss Lillian Godfrey. The Eastern Star gave a delightful banquet Thursday night in the Masonic Hall. Miss Bessie Thorp will entertain next Friday night at the lovely Thorp home on West Hunter Street. Miss Cogswell has issued invitations to a dance to be given at the Armory on the evening of Nov. 26. Mrs. E.T. Atkinson gave a party this afternoon in honor of her little daughter Janet's eighth birthday.

Will F. Linkleman entertained a few friends with a dance at the Armory last night in compliment to his cousin Walter Roepke of St. Louis. About thirty people were present and it is unnecessary to say that all had an enjoyable evening.

75 Years Ago -- November 21, 1928

Mrs. Albert Lowry had the misfortune to suffer a broken arm Thursday night. She was at the Lowry Hardware Store with her husband and at closing time, she cranked the car while Albert locked the doors, says the Richards Progress. Mrs. Lowry had cranked the car many times before but this time it showed a bad disposition and kicked. Both bones in her right arm between her wrist and elbow were broken. She was taken to Deerfield where Dr. N.B. Primm gave her treatment.

50 Years Ago -- November 21, 1953

AROUND TOWN- "Forgotten" patients at the State Hospital No. 3 will be remembered at Christmas again this year under a program being sponsored by the Athenas Club. Hundreds of presents were collected for the patients last year in a similar campaign and were distributed through the hospitals at Christmas time. Hospital officials said the gifts were of tremendous benefit to the patients and the spirit of the entire institution. The Athenas have sent letters to other organizations in the county this week soliciting their support for the Second Annual Christmas Gift Program.

FLAT ROCK SCHOOL NEWS -- Those pupils of the Flat Rock School making 100 in Spelling for the past six weeks are Lynn Sousa, Allen Kemp, Loren Hedrick, Glenda Hedrick, David Gayman, Ronnie Hall, John Hendrick, Larry Hale and David Sousa.

The teacher gave each pupil making a perfect score a prize. Wednesday night a large crowd attended the school's Pie Supper.

The supper cleared $73.36 with which to buy playground equipment, it is planned. The school joined the Junior Red Cross 100 percent. The children are proud of their pins.
