Bronaugh blasts off in huge fourth- quarter rally
The surging Bronaugh Wildcats poured it on in the fourth quarter to break open a tight contest.
Bronaugh (6-0), with 25 fourth-quarter points, came from behind to trip Liberal 68-57 on Friday.
"We played a very sluggish game and were fortunate to come out with a win," said Bronaugh coach Tim Judd. "After a terrible third quarter, we came out and played strong in the fourth to get the win."
The Wildcats trailed by one, 44-43, going into the final period following a dismal 10-point third quarter.
Tyler Judd tallied 13 of his game-high 32 points to lead the comeback, while John Whitworth chipped in with eight of his 11.
Jack Daniels finished with 17 points to earn scoring runner-up honors for Bronaugh.
The Wildcats went to the line a whopping 35 times, making 23, while Liberal was only 2-of-4 from the charity stripe.
On the girls side, the Lady Wildcats were trounced 64-26 by the Lady Bulldogs.
Jesse Rawlings and Sara Shaw led Bronaugh with six points apiece.
