Archie runs to win over Hume

HUME, Mo. -- Archie's fast-break baskets hurt Hume in the Lady Hornets' 53-45 loss on Tuesday.

"It was a very good ballgame by both teams," said Hume coach Larry Berry, whose team slipped under .500 at 3-4.

Free-throw shooting, however, wasn't a good area for either team. Hume missed 16 and Archie bonked 15.

Archie led by one at the half, then outscored the Hornets 29-22 in the second half.

Kayla Morrison and Janine Castillo shared scoring honors for the Lady Hornets with 11 apiece. Castillo, a sophomore, completed a double-double with 10 rebounds.

Nicole Hinton added nine points.

Leading scorer for the Lady Whirlwinds was Megan Lotspeich with 20.
