Balloon release to mark departure of troops
Nevada Daily Mail
Company D, 735th Supply Battalion of the National Guard, of Camp Clark, will leave New Jersey for Kuwait Jan. 6. The Nevada American Legion will conduct a ceremony at 4:30 p.m., during which the group plans to release balloons at the same time the company is embarking on the plane taking them to Kuwait. The event is open to the public and balloons will be provided.
The company will spend 15 days in Kuwait for training and acclimatizing before going to their final destination, Camp Specher.
Company D's departure for duty overseas comes just a few short weeks after Company A left Nevada for Fort Riley, Kan., on Nov. 1. Companies A and D were honored in an Oct. 12 parade, and family members and friends will mark Company D's departure with the balloon release.
