State legislators Fisher and Koster take oath of office

Barney Fisher, Richards, and Chris Koster, Belton, officially took over their respective offices in the state's legislature, during a formal swearing-in ceremony in Jefferson City on Wednesday, Jan. 5.

Fisher is now the 125th District's state representative, and Koster now serves in the Senate's 31st District.

Koster, 40, was elected to the Senate in November. He previously served three terms as prosecuting attorney of Cass County. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master's degree in business administration from Washington University in St. Louis.

Fisher, 57, is a native of Vernon County. He graduated from Nevada High School 1965 and from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1969, with a bachelor of science in education; Fisher holds a Missouri Lifetime Teaching Certificate.

In 1972, he began his career as Marine Corps Fighter Pilot, from which he retired in September 1993, having achieved the rank of Lt. Col.; and from 1993-2003, Fisher was co-owner and operator of local Nevada business, Kritter Kleaners-Kamp Kritter.
