Nevada Lady Tiger freshman forward Lindsay Rice will miss the remainder of the 2004-2005 basketball season after tests revealed ligament damage in her left knee Thursday.
Rice injured the knee during Tuesday's game against Carl Junction in the first round of the Carthage Lady Tiger Invitational.
Thursday's tests revealed a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and a partial tear of the medial collateral ligament (MCL).
The two tears will require surgery as soon as the swelling in the knee subsides. The normal recovery time for someone with an ACL tear is anywhere from 6-12 months before returning to sports activities.
Rice had received extended playing time with the varsity as a freshman.
