Wilson sues railroad company
D.L. Wilson through Attorney J.R. Moss has filed suit against the MDK&T Railway Company for $100 damages alleged he suffered by the negligent manner in which 18 bales of hay of his broom corn was handled in shipment from Harwood to Kansas City.
75 years ago:
Unidentified man's wagon gets stuck on cattle guard; destroyed by train
Some fellow whose name is unknown was very unlucky, and yet very lucky Sunday night. The fellow with a wagon and team had driven into what is known as the asylum spur just northeast of the city and had started out with a load of coal. The gate to the entrance is kept securely locked and the man drove over the cattleguard going in and when he attempted to drive out his wagon stuck on the cattleguard. Before he could release the wagon a Missouri Pacific train came along and smashed the wagon and scattered the coal, but luckily for the man he and his team escaped.
50 years ago:
Officials tally up money taken in Richards school robbery
After making a check of money taken in the Richards school burglary Monday night, superintendent John Canfield announced that a total of $81.30 was taken from the activities fund and $189.70 from the school lunch monies. Also missing is a $100 check from the activities fund.
Today Sheriff Les Hunt was still investigating the burglary at the Richards school as well as at the Barbour Grocery Store in Richards in which $100 in cash and several hundred dollars in merchandise were stolen.
