A layup by Lacy Leonard with 6:12 left on the clock proved to be the deciding bucket as the Nevada Lady Tigers slipped past the Kansas City-Southeast Lady Knights in their Lady Tiger Classic first-round game.
The basket came as part of a 19-0 run to start the game and proved to be all Nevada would need as they dominated Southeast 100-11.
The basket by Leonard gave Nevada a 12-0 lead in the first quarter, as they raced to a 37-6 lead before the second period had even started.
It was one of those games Tuesday at Wynn Gymnasium. The Lady Tigers were just too powerful for the winless visitors from Kansas City.
The Nevada bench saw exclusive time on the floor, and Nevada held Southeast scoreless in the second quarter as they took a 68-6 lead into the break.
In the second half the starters only saw a couple minutes of action and the Lady Tigers were able to give everyone experience running the offense and defense in the win.
Hillary Adams started the game with a 3-pointer, coming less than five seconds after the opening tip, and led Nevada with 23 points despite only playing less than half the game.
Leonard had 18 points, also in limited action and freshman Jordan Webb had a career-high 14 points off the bench.
All 12 players suited up for Nevada played, and 11 of the players scored with only Jordan Scotten not getting into the book.
"I'm glad that everybody got in and everybody was playing hard," Nevada coach Brent Bartlett said.
Nevada improved to 13-3 with the win.
The Lady Tigers will play El Dorado Springs in the Lady Tiger Classic semifinals Friday. El Dorado Springs defeated Kansas City-Ruskin 40-35 Tuesday, in the game preceding Nevada's.
