Young German falls from train near Butler
Wednesday night on the south-bound Missouri Pacific train, says the Butler Democrat, was a German who, when the train was midway between Lone Tree and Archie, stepped to the door of the smoking car to get some fresh air. The train was cutting a hole through the night at the rate of 50 miles per hour, causing the German to lose his balance and he was pitched headlong from the car to the right of way. He was missed when the train reached Archie and a telegram was sent to Lone Tree in regard to him. A party was at once organized and sent down the line to look for the missing man. He was soon found walking up the track toward Lone Tree, uninjured save for having few slight bruises and being considerably chilled.

Unusual suit tried at Fort Scott
The suit of Fred Bollinger, a minor, against the city of Fort Scott for $20,000 damages under the Kansas mob law, because of alleged injuries suffered by him during a class fight among high school students more than two years ago, came up for trial in district court today. Young Bollinger, who, being a minor, brought the suit through his father, E.K. Bollinger, claimed that he was struck on the head by a brick, and that permanent injury was done to one of his ears, says the Fort Scott Tribune.
Young Bollinger, who says he was entirely disabled for some time by the injury, asks $1,000 for his loss of time from school, $5,000 for pain and suffering, $10,000 for actual damage and $4,000 as punitive damages.
