Hume, NEVC split games

Hume and Northeast Vernon County split a doubleheader Tuesday in Walker, with the Hornets winning the boys' game and the Lady Knights winning the girls' contest.

In the boys' game, Hume won 62-50.

James Salters led the Hornets with 24 points, off-setting 24 points from NEVC's Steve Koshko.

Justin Wehar added 15 and James Brooks scored 10 in the win, as Hume improved to 10-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

NEVC also had two other players in double figures as Matt Thomas and Desmond Foster each scored 10.

In the girls' game NEVC got a 16-point effort from Becca Price to win 51-47.

Hume was led by Nicole Hinton's 17 points and Kayla Orear added 15, but the Lady Knights used a strong fourth quarter to pull out the win.

Hume had come back from a 25-16 halftime deficit to take a 32-31 lead going into the fourth.

The Hume girls are now 10-6, and NEVC is 12-7.
