Eula Mae Stoller Emery
Eula Mae Stoller Emery, 94, California, Mo., passed away, Saturday, March 5, 2005, at the Moniteau Care Center in California, Mo. She was born March 11, 1910, on a farm five miles east of Milo, the daughter of Ernest and Ada Hackney Stoller.
As a child she attended the Olive Branch Baptist Church near Milo. She was united in marriage, May 28, 1930, to the Rev. David Franklin Emery, who preceded her in death, May 21, 1990. She was a teacher, faithful homemaker and a wonderful mother. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1929; Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar; Kansas State Teachers College and Central Baptist Seminary in Kansas City, Kansas. She was a diligent co-worker with her husband in his many pastorates and the first churches he served were quarter-time churches in Vernon County; Moundville, El Dorado Springs, Sylvandale and Deerfield. Other full-time pastorates included First Baptist Church in Girard, Kan.,1937; First Baptist Church in Butler, 1942-1945; First Baptist Church in Monett, Mo., 1945-1953; First Baptist Church in DeSoto, Mo., 1953-1962 and Calvary Baptist Church in Hannibal, Mo., 1962-1970 and joined First Baptist Church in California, Mo., on Feb. 12, 1987; where her husband served as an associate minister. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ, her family and friends and was the happiest when she was able to serve and help others. She was a member of the Missouri Baptist State Executive Committee-at-large for four years, held various positions in the Missouri Baptist Association and was active in her local churches. She served faithfully with her husband during his interim ministry at more than 100 Missouri churches, including the Clarksburg and Salem Baptist Churches.
Survivors include: three daughters, Joy Johnson with her husband, Dr. R. Elton Johnson, of Fayetteville, Ga., Sue Foltz with her husband, Richard, of Carmel, Ind., and Lois Phillips with her husband, Charles, of California, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eloise Stoller Simon and Freda Stoller Martin.
Services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, March 11, at the Main Street Baptist Church in California, Mo. The Rev. Greg Morrow and the Rev. Scott Johnson will officiate and burial will be in the California City Cemetery, California, Mo., next to her beloved husband. What a glorious day for the celebration of her homecoming! March 11 is her 95th birthday. Visitation will also be on Friday at the Main Street Baptist Church from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers to the First Baptist Church, 208 S. Oak Street, California, MO 65018 for the North-South Evangelistic Ministries in Brazil, where Mrs. Emery's son-in-law, Dr. R. Elton Johnson, is presently holding a crusade for the Lord.
