Nevada Police are looking for suspects who broke into the Nevada Auto Mall and stole two vehicles. Officers were dispatched at about 7:35 p.m. Saturday, March 26, to investigate the incident.
The suspects apparently broke the glass out of a door and entered the showroom. The suspects then ransacked several offices and took various items from them.
The suspects also discovered keys and took two vehicles from the lot, a pearl blue 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 extended cab truck and a red 2005 Dodge Neon. The vehicles have not yet been recovered but a Ford stolen from Bethany was.
Police Chief Christine Keim said that the two thefts bore similarities and the police were investigating the possibility that they are connected. "We're trying to get prints from the Mustang that was recovered," Chief Keim said. "We're calling in the state crime lab. We hope that they can help out."
Both incidents occurred at car dealerships that were located close to a major highway and more than one vehicle was taken from each.
Keim said that while the department didn't have any direct leads, it was investigating the matter. "We've got some leads that we're working from the Ford that was stolen from Bethany," Keim said.
Keim said that whoever stole the Ford from Bethany tried to make recovering evidence difficult. "I'm not going to describe what they did," Keim said. "Others may try to do the same thing in the future."
