100 years ago:

Work continues on Nevada-Springfield line

The Kansas City, Nevada and Springfield surveyors are continuing their work within the city limits and the topographers are mapping for blueprints the route already gone over, says Wednesday's Springfield Leader.

The line is being run toward the east today, just north and east of the Woods Evertz store factory and office.

75 years ago:

Mr. Craft retrieves his automobile from sheriff

Bruce L. Craft, of Lemons, came to Nevada Saturday to get his automobile that has been in the hands of Sheriff W.E. Butner for several months. The car was found in the rock quarry southwest of Nevada last fall and investigations showed that it was the property of Craft.

50 years ago:

Marshall holds Nevada youth on bank robbery charge

PRINCETON, Ind. -- A youth who said he was from Nevada was captured by a posse yesterday within 10 minutes after he had robbed the Haubstadt State Bank of $10,261.

Francis Carr, a state trooper, said the prisoner gave his name as Marshall Nolan, 21.

During the holdup a bank employee slipped out and entered the telephone exchange which is next door to the bank. The operator alerted the town marshall, state police and businessmen.

Citizens quickly gathered arms and took up the pursuit. Nolan was overtaken three blocks from the bank.
