Nevada swimmers take fifth at Carthage Invitational

The Nevada Lady Tiger swimmers placed fifth in a 14-team field at the Carthage Invitational Friday.
Nevada finished with a team score of 93, 20 points behind fourth-place Carthage and well be hind the two powers at the meet.
Glendale and Joplin swam away from the rest of the competition, battling between themselves for the top spot with Glendale winning by 18.5 points. Glendale had a team score of 321.
Nevada's Kristen Badgley was second in the backstroke with a time of 1 minute, 6.18 seconds, the top placing by the Lady Tigers. Badgley was only .20 seconds behind the winner, Kelsi Kelley of Hillcrest.
Badgley was also part of the fourth-place 400-yard freestyle relay, was fifth in the 200-yard individual medley, and was part of the eighth-place 200-yard medley relay.
Other high placings were Deidre Stacy in the 100-yard freestyle, where she placed seventh. Stacy was also part of the fifth-place 200-yard freestyle relay team and the 400 freestyle team. Stacy also placed 10th in the 50 freestyle.
Lindsey Webb was part of the 200 medley team, the 200 freestyle team and was 10th in both the 100 breaststroke and 100 freestyle.
Brittany Braucher was on the 200 medley team, the 200 freestyle team and the 400 freestyle team.
Hannah Ketterman was also on the 400 freestyle team, the 200 freestyle team and the 200 medley team.
The Nevada Lady Tigers did beat Ozark, Springfield Central, Lamar, Hillcrest, Labette County (Kan.), Parkview, Nixa, Parsons (Kan.) and Webb City.
Kickapoo was the third-place school with 143 points.
The Lady Tiger swimmers will be in the pool competitively again Thursday when they go to Carthage again for a different meet.
Badgley did not swim the 200 butterfly, an event she has yet to lose in. Having already qualified for state in the butterfly, Badgley participated in the 200 IM at Carthage instead.
