The Nevada Tiger track team had five event wins as the boys took second and the girls placed third in Saturday's Joplin Invitational.

Jessica Ferree won both the 100-meter hurdles and the 300 hurdles, giving Nevada two of their three wins on the girls' side.

Ferree had a time of 18.08 seconds in the 100 hurdles, and a time of 58 seconds in the 300.

The only other win for the girls came when Jordan Webb threw the discus 95 feet, 3.25 inches.

The girls also had second in the discus as Amanda Wilson was right behind her teammate.

Other second-place finishes for the girls were Molly Ferree in the high jump, Elizabeth Burlingame in the pole vault and Brittany Pettibon in both the 100 and 200.

On the boys' side, Nevada's winners were Jim Fay in the 800 with a time of 2 minutes, 3.90 seconds, and Harrison Gage with a long jump of 21 feet.

Blake Sanderson was second in the 200, Nathan Gragg was second in the high jump and Brad Robison was second in the discus.

The boys' 400-meter relay team of Ryan Watts, Fay, Sanderson and Gage was also second.

Placing third for the boys were Eric Atkinson in the high jump and long jump, Tim Williams in the pole vault and Robison in the shot put.

Placing third for the girls were Ashleigh Bryson in the long jump, Katelyn Brier in the 400, Afton Baldwin in the 100 and Bridget Baldwin in the 200.

The girls did all their damage despite missing jumping ace Veronica Mosier, who was in Lawrence, Kan., competing in the KU Relays.

Mosier placed fourth in the relays.

Nevada's junior varsity team will be in Carthage today for a meet, while the varsity is off until Friday when they travel to Girard, Kan., for a meet.

The meet in Girard is the last scheduled competition before the Tigers compete in the Southwest Conference meet on May 5. That meet will be followed by the district championships on May 14, in Willard.
