Propane leak leads to NEVC school evacuation

A strong odor of propane caused the evacuation of the Northeast Vernon County school in Walker at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Firefighter Roy Lee Foreman said an empty propane tank was the cause of the concern. "It could have been a bad deal if the tank were full," Foreman said. "A check valve was open and the heat of the sun made the oil they put in to make the propane smell come up the pipe."
