Roma Kathleen Gardner
Roma Kathleen Gardner, 86, of Nevada, formally of Edina, Mo., died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, in Nevada. She was born Sept. 7, 1918, in Memphis, Mo., the daughter of Bressler and Dono (McDole) Alexander. On June 27, 1948, at Memphis, Mo., she married Charles Adam Gardner who preceded her in death in 1990.
She was reared in Memphis, Mo. Attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill., and received her masters degree from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi. For most of her life she was a teacher in the Knox County School System. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Edina, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Gwenn Gardner, in January 2000; and a brother, Clifford Alexander.
Surviving are her daughter, Gayla Gardner Gibbs of Nevada; a son, David Gardner, of Nevada; one grandson; a sister, Arlene Johnson, of Lake Butler, Fla.; and a brother, Kenneth Alexander, of Grand Island, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, May 7, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Mo. The Rev. Dewayne Wellborn will officiate the services. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens at Kirksville, Mo. Casket bearers will be family and friends. Visitation will be Saturday with family receiving friends after 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home Edina, Mo., (660) 397-2233.
