NEVC Class of 2005 celebrates graduation

Northeast Vernon County seniors throw their caps into the air in jubilant celebration after their graduation ceremony Saturday evening.

Northeast Vernon County High School Commencement was held Saturday evening at the gymnasium in Walker. The processional and recessional were played by John Wall, NEVC music instructor. The welcome and invocation were given by Marissa Vantellman. Faye Koger, high school counselor, presented the honor students and scholarships. A salutatorian address was given by Katie Foreman, and the valedictorian address was given by Audrey Short. Charles Naas, superintendent of schools, presented Kendall Ogburn, elementary school principal, who gave the commencement address. A vocal solo was given by a graduating senior, Joseph Lukenbill, who received a scholarship to Fort Scott Community College in music.

A PowerPoint program was also presented, featuring pictures of the seniors as they presented a flower to their families.

Monte Padgett, high school principal, presented the Class of 2005, and Mike Newman, board of education president, presented the diplomas.

The benediction was given by Jenna Patton.

The Class of 2005 was David Gene Bryant, Nicholas Rae Chadd, Juanita Lorraine Covey, Katie Dawn Foreman *, Wyatt Stephan Koshko, Joseph Daniel Lukenbill, David Matthew McCollum, John Michael Moss, Jenna Nichole Patton*, Rebecca Jean Price*, Trisha Rose Schmidt, Audrey Dyane Short*, Joseph Emmanuel Souza*, Jarred Matthew Taylor, Matthew Wayne Thomas, Andrew Blake Wilkins, Marissa Erin Vantellman *.

Class Officers were president, Katie Foreman; vice president, Audrey Short; secretary, Jenna Patton; and treasurer, Rebecca Price.
