Bronaugh High School track standout Jessica Langford placed in the top 10 in two events during the MSHSAA Class 1 State Championships.
Langford, a junior, was the only Bronaugh athlete to qualify for the state meet. She did so by winning both the 100 meters and the 200 meters at the district meet the week before.
Friday the preliminaries were held, and both times Langford was in the faster heat.
Langford placed seventh out of eight in the first heat of the 100. Overall, her time of 13.81 seconds was good enough for 10th place. Five of the eight runners in her heat went to the finals, which Langford missed by only .04 seconds.
In the 200, Langford was sixth in her heat, ninth overall. Her time of 28.08 left her out of the finals by only .31 seconds. Again, five runners from her heat advanced.
Kelly McKay, of Liberal, easily won both events.
