Griffons earn split yet again in doubleheader
Nevada Daily Mail
Following a twin bill in Liberal Wednesday, the Nevada Griffons have played in five doubleheaders this season. The results have been the same in each one.
Nevada took the first game against the Liberal Bee Jays Wednesday, only to lose the night cap.
In game one it was a two-run homer by newly acquired Spencer Pennington that sparked them to a 3-1 victory.
The second game was lost by the same score as a two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning handed Nevada its eighth Jayhawk League loss of the season.
The Griffons also fell 4-3 in the series opener against the Bee Jays Tuesday.
The Bee Jays scored all four of their runs in the third inning to beat Chris Klick. For Klick, it was his first loss in four starts this season (3-1).
The Griffons are now 11-8 this season overall, 5-8 in the Jayhawk League.
Liberal is now 12-7 overall, 6-2 in the league.
The Griffons have dropped into fourth place in the Jayhawk League as El Dorado now stands at 7-6 in league games.
Liberal is in second behind Hays, which is 9-2.
The Griffons play at Liberal again tonight to close the four-game series before coming home to start a four-game set with the Southwest Slashers Friday.
