Bushwhacker Days plus the Mini Sprints and Father's Day, all rolled into one night of racing. We had lots of action including a rollover in the mini sprints. After having a rain out last week drivers were anxious to get onto the track. Drivers drew for their starting positions in the heat races with those finishes determining their starting places in the features. Scout troop No.117 presented the flag prior to starting the racing evening. There were two drivers who claimed their first win of the season Saturday, Brantlee Gotschall in Modified and Karl Lehmann in Street Stock. Join us each and every week this year at the biggest little race track in the country to catch all the action.

Late Model heat race winners were Jack Simmons, Erie, Kan., and Bill Humble Jr., Rich Hill. At the start of the Feature Mike Boultinghouse went sliding into a tire and collected Ron Bolin Sr. After an original lineup restart Simmons took the lead. Jim Buzzard got into the tires and the yellow flew. This closed the field behind Simmons for the restart. Simmons never looked back as he claimed the win, his third of the season.

Modified heat race winners were Justin Boots, Welda, Kan., and Brantlee Gotschall, Nevada. Boots got the lead at the start of the Feature and traded it with Gotschall many times before Gotschall was able to hold the position. A yellow flew as Ray Maloney hit a retaining tire, which sent it rolling into the track and Maloney spinning. This closed the field behind Gotschall for the restart. Jerald Folk went spinning collecting Russell Larimore and this brought out the yellow flag. Gotschall was in the lead for the restart and maintained it through the balance of the race to claim the win, his first of the season.

Street Stock heat race winners were Karl Lehmann, Nevada, and Denny Chrisenbery, Bronaugh. Lehmann took the lead at the start of the Feature with Chrisenbery and Craig Spencer right on his bumper and sometimes side by side and trying to pass one on the high side and one on the low side. Lehmann maintained the lead. A yellow flew as Ronnie Shadden, Olin Wyland and Blaine Diehl all got together. Lehmann led the field to take the green flag for the restart. Jesse Willard joined Spencer and Chrisenbery trying to gain the lead. A yellow flew as Shadden had problems and was hit by Kenny Shaw Jr. Lehmann again was in the lead for the restart. The four leaders battled it out right down to the checkered flag with Lehmann collecting the win, his first of the season.

Factory Stock heat race winners were Foxie Sumner and Shawn Hendren, both from Nevada. Sumner got the lead at the start of the Feature. Lester Rhodes' car went up in a cloud of smoke and the yellow flew as he was not able to make it to the pits. Sumner was in the lead for the restart. Sumner led the race from the start, through several caution periods and with just two laps to go he had mechanical problems which allowed Ken Laymen to take the lead and collect the win, his third of the season.

Mini Stock heat race winners were Craig Burchette, Liberal, and Brandon Leer, Nevada. Burchette got the lead at the start of the Feature. Leer had just taken the lead when the yellow flew as Brian Beard when spinning into the infield. This placed Burchette back in the lead for the restart. Burchette went high in the corner allowing Brent Knight to gain the lead. A yellow flew as Burchette got sideways, clipped the Leer car and then went into the wall. Knight was in the lead for the restart. Another yellow flew as Mike Baxter, Lance Coulter, Pepper Jacobs and Jay Radspinner got together. Knight was in the lead for the restart and never looked back as he claimed his sixth win of the season.

Midwest Outlaw Lightening Sprints heat race winners were Lee Lengel, Springhill, Kan., Jim Devore, Harrisonville, and Phil Heavelow, Buckner. Zach Goulden got the lead at the start of the Feature. Merrill Lamb and Scott Allen got together and spun bringing out the yellow flag. Goulden was in the lead for the restart. Allen and Lengel got together sending Allen over on his side and the red flag flew so we could make sure the drivers were okay and to clear the track. Goulden was again in the lead for the restart. Beau Heavelow had been working his way through the field and jumped into the lead on the restart. Then Phil Heavelow took the lead and never looked back as he claimed his second feature win of the season at this track.
