NRMC to host one-day Alzheimer's association conference on Aug. 12
The words "Alzheimer's Disease" can be frightening for most of us, chances are most people know someone very close to them that is caring for a loved one or is dealing with the disease firsthand.
Nevada Regional Medical Center, in conjunction with the Joplin Regional Office of the Alzheimer's Association, Southwest Missouri Chapter will present a caregiver's conference, which is titled, "Alzheimer's Disease: Let's Not Forget the Family," on Friday, Aug. 12, from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
This conference, designed for families, professional caregivers and other interested individuals, will be held at Nevada Regional Medical Center in the Moore-Few Care Center Community Room in Nevada.
The focus of the conference is designed to provide caregivers with helpful and practical information. Warren Lovinger, M.D., F.A.C.P., an internal medicine physician will present "An Overview of Alzheimer's Disease, Treatment, & Current Research."
Amanda Schemelzer, J.D., attorney with Elder Care Law Center, of Joplin, will focus on "Understanding Legal and Financial Issues When Planning Long-Term Care"; Maureen Short, R.N., B.S.N., administrator of Barone Alzheimer Care Center, will highlight "The Impact on the Family"; and Angie Hall, BSW, social services, Nevada Regional Medical Center, will address the topic of "Guilt, Grief, and Dying."
There is no charge for the conference which will include continental breakfast. Reservations are required and must be received no later than Aug. 11, at 4 p.m.
