Dowell "Keith" Armstrong

Dowell "Keith" Armstrong, age 70, passed away suddenly on Monday, Aug. 8, 2005.

He was born on Aug. 3, 1935, in Nevada, to Raymond and Alice (Addison) Armstrong.

Keith attended schools in Appleton City and Nevada. He began working on the Pohl's Family Farm in 1953. On June 13, 1957, he married Helen LaDue. Keith joined the Army in 1958, trained at Fort Leonard Wood, then did a 13 month tour of duty in Korea. Keith ended his military career at Fort Riley, Kan., where he was honorably discharged in 1960. Upon his return to Nevada, he began working for Pohl's Construction where he worked until his retirement in 2000. Keith was a member of Teamsters Local 823 in Joplin. Since retiring, Keith enjoyed spending time at his Koi pond, feeding the birds, and watching his grandsons grow up.

His parents and one sister, Dottie Miles, preceded him in death.

Keith is survived by his wife Helen, of the home; one son, Bryan Armstrong and his wife, Lisa (Stevens), of Nevada; one daughter, Renda Armstrong of Nevada; two sisters, Kay Langshaw of Kansas City, Kan., and Nancy Pettibon of Nevada; and three grandsons, Kyle, Logan and Jacob Armstrong.

A military graveside service will be announced at a later date by Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Donations can be made to a charity of the donor's choice, in memory of Keith.
