Prisoner escapes from custody

A Vernon County prisoner escaped custody Friday night from the New Beginnings/Behavioral Health Unit on the third floor of Nevada Regional Medical Center.

Vernon County Sheriff Ron Peckman said this morning he wasn't sure exactly when the escape occurred.

Jesse Davis II, 39, Kansas City, is described as a white male 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 175 pounds with brown eyes and a recently shaved head.

Davis was in custody on charges alleging he distributed illegal drugs. He was scheduled for trial next month.
