Nevada Tiger cross country runners Trevor Hinkle and Mason Benn competed in the state cross country championships in Jefferson City, Saturday.
Hinkle, a sophomore, was the top runner for Nevada, finishing the 5,000-meter course in 17 minutes, 54.26 seconds. That was good enough for 51st place overall.
Benn, a senior, finished 72nd overall, with a time of 18:07.30.
The winner of the individual championship was Josh Mathis, a junior from Potosi. Mathis ran the course at Oak Hills Golf Center in a time of 15:41.58.
Potosi easily won the team event with 36 points. They had five runners in the top 13, including the top two.
Carthage was the top team from Nevada's district, finishing with 210 points, good enough for sixth place. Lee's Summit West, the other representative from Nevada's district, finished ninth as a team.
