Mildred Helen (Whitehead) Belcher Holland, 87, Nevada, Mo., died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at her home. She was born Sept. 25, 1918, in Vernon County, to L.E. Whitehead and Laura Maude (Hunt) Whitehead. She married Marvin Kenneth Belcher on March 6, 1938, in Carthage, Mo. He preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1969. She later was married to L. Garratt Holland on Oct. 16, 1985, at Lake Lotawana, Mo. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2005.

Mildred was the youngest of four children. She was a graduate of the class of 1936 in Nevada. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a life member of the Soroptomist International of Nevada. She was also a member of the Community Club of Lake Lotawana. Mildred had worked as a cashier at Karbe's Grocery, Missouri Public Service and Edmiston's Clothing store. She and Marvin owned and operated Marmik's Ladies Fashions on the south side of the Nevada Square from 1958 until her retirement in 1983.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Annette Grieve, Riverton, Wyo., and Judy Belcher. Nevada; five grandchildren, Kelly Griefenkamp of Utah, Tracy Jane and Tyler Hoff of Vail, Colo., Mitchell Pickens, Vail, and Julie Ogle, Liberty, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Erin Liles and her husband, Steve, Jessica and Jandi Ogle; three great-great-grandchildren, Jalynn Warner, Brackin Biggs, and Colin Liles. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, L.E. Whitehead, and Julius Alfred Whitehead, and one sister, Margaret Eileen Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 26, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Dr. William Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until 8 p.m., Saturday and from 8 a.m., Monday until the hour of service. Those who wish may contribute to the First Baptist Church in her memory in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
