R-5 schools continue search for new leader

The search continues for a new superintendent for the Nevada R-5 School district.
Dr. Ted Davis announced his plans to retire in November, relinquishing his post as superintendent after 11 years of service in Nevada schools, effective July 1.
Davis has stated on numerous occasions that he's confident the board will select a capable successor, and in a November statement, the board praised Davis' leadership and service to the community and said the search was to begin immediately, expressing a desire to name a new superintendent in February, and planned to enlist the help of the Missouri School Boards' Association to aid in the search.
That was done, and the board received an update on the search for his replacement, during a regular meeting Wednesday night. Dr. Paul James of the Missouri School Boards' Association will bring the Nevada board a list of approximately 20 candidates and the board will go through the list to choose those it wishes to interview. Lovinger, the board president, said he still expects the board to pick a new superintendent by the end of February, "If everything goes smoothly."
